Gold Vermeil on 925

The specification buyers ask for by name. A minimum 2.5 microns of gold over solid sterling silver — the only combination that may legally be called vermeil in most markets.

What buyers ask us

What makes it vermeil rather than plated silver?
Two things, both required: the base must be sterling silver, and the gold must be at least 2.5 microns thick. Drop either and it is gold-plated silver, not vermeil. We hold the 2.5-micron minimum as standard and can go thicker on request.
How long will the gold last?
With normal wear, a 2.5-micron layer holds its colour for years rather than months. Contact with perfume, chlorine and abrasive cleaning shortens that on any plated product — we supply care guidance you can pass to your customers.
Can you rhodium-plate for white gold colour?
Yes. White vermeil is produced with a rhodium layer over the silver, giving the bright white finish of white gold without the yellowing that untreated silver develops.
